The Baku International Sea Trade Port shipped 1.74 million tons of oil in 2011, which is 13 percent lower than in 2010, a source in Baku port told Trend.

"The port shipped 1.74 million tons of oil in total in 2011, which is 13 percent lower compared to 2010" the source said.

Downward trend in turnover of the port of oil cargo from Central Asia is associated with a redirection of some of goods to the oil terminal, located in the village of Sangachal.

The port shipped 1.99 million tons of oil and oil products in 2010, which is 21 percent lower compared to 2009. The rate of decline was associated with reduced transit of Kazakh and Turkmen oil and redirection some of the oil cargo from Central Asia to the oil terminal at Sangachal.

Baku port shipped 2.5 million tons of oil in 2009, which is 10 percent lower compared to 2008.

The port shipped 5.1 million tons of cargo in total in 2009.
