Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 20 / Trend E.Ismayilov /
A unit for the separation of benzene fraction from a stable platform will be built at a refinery named after Heydar Aliyev belonging to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in order to align with the requirements of Euro-3 environmental standards of benzene content in gasoline.
This was stated by the head of the refinery Elman Ismayilov in an interview with Respublika newspaper.
He said construction of a Merox installation is planned in order to produce environmentally clean liquid gas and gasoline, based on the UOP Company's project.
With the growing demand for gasoline and the need to increase production of dry gas and propylene fraction, the UOP Company will work on bringing the capacity of a catalytic cracking unit N55 to three million tons.
Ismayilov said that work on the reconstruction of primary oil refining unit is planned. All this work is provided in a comprehensive plan under the general direction of SOCAR's strategic development till 2025.
Oil products are produced at two Baku refineries with capacities of 16 million tons of oil a year. Both refineries belong to SOCAR which annually processes approximately seven million tons of oil from onshore and offshore fields as self-funded.
