Gas transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline increases

In January-August 2018, 4.99 billion cubic meters of gas have been transported through the South Caucasus (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) gas pipeline, which is 4.4 percent more than the figure for eight months of last year (almost 4.78 billion cubic meters), the report of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan read.

"The South Caucasus gas pipeline in January-August has accounted for 31.1 percent of all gas transported through the country's main pipelines," the report read.

According to the data of the State Statistics Committee, gas transportation through the main pipeline has increased to 15.04 billion cubic meters of gas, which is 3.5 percent more compared to January-August 2017.

The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline is more than 700 kilometers. This gas pipeline transports the gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian sea. The gas is supplied to Georgia and Turkey.
