Iran can easily meet hydrocarbon needs of 15 countries in the region, said Reza Paydar, deputy chairman of the Energy, Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industry Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), Trend reports with reference to the Iranian news TV channel.
He said that this is conditioned by the creation of small oil refineries, permission for their operation, as well as transfer oil refineries to private sector.
“Just like all countries, we need to trust the private sector,” he noted.
Paydar added that there are 3,300 companies in Iran’s energy sector, noting that about 180,000 people are employed in this field and together with the related companies’ employees, their number reaches 550,000 people.
“However, only 30 percent of this sector’s potential is used,” he said.
He noted that if this potential is used appropriately, the countries of the region will form a queue to buy oil products of Iran.
“Thus, at least 10,000 people will be employed in Iran’s economy sphere,” he said.
