A contract for the construction of 20,000 small-scale solar panel plants has been signed in Iran, Trend reports with reference to IRNA.
The agreement was signed by Chairman of Iranian Plan and Budget Organization Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, Chairman of the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation Morteza Bakhtiari, as well as Head of the Niruyeh Moghavemat Basij Mobilization Resistance Force Gholamreza Soleimani.
Deputy Chairman of Iranian Plan and Budget Organization Hamid Pourmohammadi said that loans worth 350 million rials (about $8,330) will be provided for the construction of each plant.
The deputy chairman noted that the electricity to be produced at the plants will be purchased by the Iranian Ministry of Energy.
“At the first stage, 20,000 plants will be built for 20,000 nomads, as well as families living near the borders, and the number of plants will increase to 100,000 at the next stages,” Pourmohammadi said.
Iranian local companies such as Mapna will build these plants and transfer them to related agencies, the deputy chairman added.
Pourmohammadi noted that the construction of the plants won’t only increase electricity production, but also contribute to the economic growth of poor families.
