Oil and gas production volumes drop in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region

The volume of oil production in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region amounted to 9.8 million tons from January through July 2020, which is 5.2 percent less than in the same period of last year (10.4 million tons), the Investment and Tourism Development Department of the Mangystau region told Trend on Sept. 7.

Oil production amounted to 1.3 million tons in July 2020, which means a decrease compared to 1.5 million tons in July 2019.

The natural gas production amounted to 1.7 billion cubic meters in the first seven months of 2020, which is also 4.3 percent less than in the same period of last year (1.8 billion cubic meters).

In turn, the volume of natural gas production in July 2020 amounted to 220.6 million cubic meters compared to 258.4 million cubic meters (14.6 percent-decrease) in July 2019.

Today there are 26 oil and gas producing enterprises in the region, eight of which are big, the aggregate share of which in the total volume of oil production in the region is 94 percent.

Some 51.5 million tons of oil and gas condensate were produced in Kazakhstan in the first seven months of 2020, which is 1.4 percent less than in the same period of last year.
