STAR refinery's crude oil imports rise y-o-y

STAR refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey imported 930,732 tons of crude oil in September 2020, as compared to 696,317 tons in the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority.

The refinery exported 100,579 tons of diesel in September 2020, versus 18,983 tons of jet fuel in the same month of 2019.

The STAR refinery’s opening ceremony took place on October 19, 2018 in Izmir, Turkey. Its refining capacity is 10 million tons of crude oil per year.

The STAR refinery, which has been equipped with the most modern technologies, is capable of processing more than 100 types of oil.

Earlier, Head of the SOCAR Turkey Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit and General Manager of Petkim Anar Mammadov said that the investment value of STAR Refinery will reach approximately $7 billion.

STAR Refinery is making $ 1.5 billion worth contribution per year to reduce the current account deficit in Turkey, he noted.
