Russia’s Hevel to construct solar plant in Kazakhstan's Turkestan

Hevel Kazakhstan JSC, which is a member of the Russian Hevel Group, has won an auction for the construction of the solar energy plant in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy.

The auction on the creation of the 20 MW solar plant near the Kentau city of Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region was held on Dec. 9 with the participation of countries from Kazakhstan, Russia, and Germany.

Three companies were allowed to participate in the auction; 48 price proposals were submitted by the participants during the trading session. The price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 16.97 to 14.58 tenge (4 cents to 3 cents) per kWh (excluding VAT).

Earlier this year, the Hevel Group representative said that it was currently in the process of implementing various projects in Kazakhstan, the right for implementation of which was received in 2018 and 2019.

On May 30, 2020, Russia’s Hevel Group commissioned Nura solar power plant (SPP) with an installed capacity of 100 MW in Kazakhstan’s Akmola region, making it one of the largest solar power plants in the CIS region.
