Kazakhstan discloses amount of investments in geological exploration

So far, 273 contracts on subsoil use have been concluded, including 251 contracts on hydrocarbons and 22 contracts on uranium, Kazakh Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev said during a meeting for the population in the Central Communications Service.

“Some 11 contracts were signed in 2020,” the minister added. “The number of investments in exploration work reached 99.6 billion tenge ($232.2 million).”

"The process of obtaining the right to subsoil use has been transferred to an electronic format,” Nogayev said. “Appropriate changes have been made to the Code on Subsoil Use. So far, date, two electronic auctions have been organized.”

“As a result, 15 areas were transferred, the total amount of the signature bonus amounted to 10.8 billion tenge ($25.2 million),” the minister said. “Moreover, subsoil users funded research and development work in the amount of 17.1 billion tenge ($39.9 million) as of 2020."

The instructions were made in accordance with the message of the president to the Kazakh people in September 2020 to ensure transparency of the process of financing science and technology, centralization of the collection and distribution of funds of subsoil users within the contractual obligations to finance research and development projects in the amount of one percent of the cost of extraction from the budget taking into account national scientific priorities. Today the government is working in this sphere.
