Iran records high gas consumption

Gas consumption in Iran amounted to 793 million cubic meters on Jan. 31, 2022, Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

The official noted that 604 million cubic meters of gas were consumed by residential buildings and commercial facilities, 91 million cubic meters by industrial plants and 98 million cubic meters by thermal power plants.

“Gas consumption in residential and commercial facilities increased by 12 percent, compared to the same day last Iranian year, while in industrial plants decreased by 7 percent, and in thermal power plants decreased by 5 percent,” he added.

According to Joulaei, the highest gas consumption was recorded in Golestan, Gilan and Mazandaran provinces, while the lowest gas consumption - in Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, Bushehr and Khuzestan provinces.

At present, Iran's gas extraction capacity is about 1 billion cubic meters per day.
