BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov.14. Slovenia is working on streamlining the permitting process to make different kinds of investments in certain renewable energy projects more attractive, , Bojan Kumer, Slovenia's Minister of Infrastructure said in an exclusive interview with Trend November 14.

“There are many highly innovative Slovenian companies that could offer a great deal of expertise in the field of renewable energy, from hydro-power installations to solar panels. On the other hand, the opportunities to invest in renewables in Slovenia are increasing as well. We have a particularly ambitious agenda when it comes to solar energy, but also wind remains very important to us,” he explained.

Kumer noted that roughly one-third of Slovenia’s electricity comes from renewable sources (mostly hydro), one-third from thermal sources, and one-third from nuclear power (with non-hydro renewables constituting two percent of the total).

“Almost half of Slovenia’s total energy consumption consists of imported petroleum purchased on global markets,” the minister added.
