BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. The refinery No. 14 of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) was officially launched, on March 2, 2023, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The refinery No. 14 has capacity to produce 50 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 77,000 barrels of gas condensate, 2,900 tons of propane and butane, 2,750 tons of ethane and 400 tons of sulfur per day.
Regarding the launch of the mentioned gas refinery, an event was held at the South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) in Bushehr Province today. The event was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Oil Minister Javad Owji, Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr and other officials.
The refinery No. 14 process gas extracted from the 14th phase of the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar).
The NIOC has spent a total of $5.2 billion on the construction of refinery No. 14 and the laying of related pipelines and etc.
Reportedly, there are two main and two satellite platforms in the 14th phase of Iran's South Pars gas field.
Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) processes rich gas extracted from the South Pars gas field. During March 21, 2022 and December 7, 2022, the company processed more than 143 billion cubic meters of gas, as well as produced 164 million barrels of gas condensate and over 33,000 tons of sulfur.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
