BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. Azerbaijan's production of commercial gas grew by 1.9 percent from January through April 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
The total natural gas production during this period reached 16.142 billion cubic meters, including 12.215 billion cubic meters of commercial gas. The annual growth rate of natural gas production was 2.5 percent.
The State Statistical Committee also reported that Azerbaijan produced nearly 10.228 million tons of crude oil, including condensate, from January through April 2023, with almost 10.202 million tons accounting for commercial oil. This indicates an 8 percent decrease in crude oil production, including condensate, on an annual basis. The production of commercial oil also decreased by 8 percent over the year.
According to the Ministry of Energy, more than half of Azerbaijan's natural gas production, 8.4 billion cubic meters, was exported. From January through April 2023, Azerbaijan exported natural gas to Europe (3.9 billion cubic meters), Türkiye (3.4 billion cubic meters), and Georgia (1.1 billion cubic meters). During the reporting period, 1.9 billion cubic meters were exported to Türkiye via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline.
