By Zeyni Jafarov - Trend:

Most of the calculations in Azerbaijan's trade turnover were made through free convertible currency (FCC) from January through March 2021, Trend reports citing a report of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan (SCC).

In the first quarter of this year, calculations in FCC on export operations are estimated at $2.37 billion, or 57.3 percent of all types of export settlements, which is 15.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the SCC report reads.

At the same time, calculations in FCC on import transactions for the reporting period amounted to $2.06 billion, or 81.4 percent of all types of import payments, having declined by 8.7 percent on an annualized basis.

"From January through March 2021, calculations in closed currency in Azerbaijan's exports amounted to $3.42 million, which is 40.7 percent less compared to the same period of last year. In imports, this figure amounted to $181.8 million, an increase of 1.5 percent over the year," said the report.

"Other export transactions amounted to $1.76 billion, which indicates an increase in annual circulation of 27.8 percent. The share of other export transactions amounted to 42.6 percent of all types of calculations. Import transactions in this category increased by 38.4 percent - up to $278.3 million. The share of such transactions in all types of import settlements amounted to 11 percent," the report said.

From January through March 2021, in the structure of Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $4.13 billion, and imports - $2.53 billion.

The balance of foreign trade turnover increased by 2.4 percent on an annualized basis and remained positive, amounting to $1.6 billion.
