Bulk of settlements in Azerbaijan's trade turnover falls on freely convertible currency

Most of the settlements in Azerbaijan's trade turnover were made in freely convertible currency (FCC) in the first half of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the report of the State Customs Committee (SCC).

From January through June 201, the settlements in FCC on export operations amounted to $5.27 billion, or 59.84 percent of all types of export settlements, which is 25.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, the SCC report reads.

At the same time, calculations in FCC on imports in the reporting period amounted to $4.45 billion or 82.68 percent of all types of payments on imports, which is an increase of 4.9 percent on annual basis.

“As of early July, payments in manat in Azerbaijan's trade reached $9.47 million, which is 1.6 percent less than a year earlier. In import operations, this figure amounted to $395.8 million, an increase of 9.5 percent over the year,” the report said.

“Other export transactions exceeded $3.52 billion, which is two percent more than the same period last year. The share of other export transactions reached 39.98 percent of all types of settlements. On import operations in this category, an increase was recorded by 38.8 percent - up to $523 million. The share of such transactions in all types of import settlements amounted to 9.71 percent,” the report noted.

In the structure of Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover for the first half of this year, exports accounted for $8.81 billion, and imports - $5.39 billion.

The balance of foreign trade turnover on annual basis increased by 26.8 percent and remained positive, amounting to $3.42 billion.
