BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. Bank deposits of individuals, in Azerbaijan, in foreign currency amounted to 4.3 billion manat ($2.5 billion) in May 2022, which is 12.1 percent more than in the same month last year, Trend reports with reference to statistical report of Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to CBA, share of deposits of individuals in foreign currency in the total amount of deposits reached 41.2 percent in the specified period.
CBA reported that the deposits of the population (including funds of individuals engaged in self-employed activities) in national currency reached 6.2 billion manat ($3.6 billion) in May 2022, which is 31.3 percent more than the same period last year.
The share of deposits of individuals in national currency amounted to 58.7 percent of the total deposits of the population.
Bank deposits of the population in Azerbaijan (including funds of individuals engaged in individual entrepreneurship) increased by 22.6 percent in May 2022 compared to the same period last year - up to 10.5 billion manat ($6.1 billion).
Volume of bank deposits of residents amounted to 9.7 billion manat ($5.7 billion) in the reporting period, non-residents - 833.4 million manat ($490.2 million).
Deposits of residents increased by 16.8 percent over the year, and deposits of non-residents - by 2.9 times, CBA added.
Deposits in Azerbaijani banks amounted to 32.02 billion manat ($18.8 billion) in May 2022, which is 28.1 percent more than in the same period last year.
