ICT revenues in Azerbaijan's GDP total 1.8 percent

In the first half of 2011, the growth of the ICT sector in Azerbaijan amounted to 15.8 percent, the telecommunications sector - 10.6 percent, IT-sector - two times, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan reported.

Of the total income in January-June in the telecommunications sector, 67.9 percent accounted for the mobile market, growth rates of which amounted to 5.6 percent as compared to last year.
76.2 percent of the income earned on the ICT sector and postal services accounted for non-state enterprises.

The revenue of the ICT sector and postal services in Azerbaijan's GDP over the past six months was 1.8 percent. According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, the GDP in non-oil sector in the first half year totaled 10.8 billion manat, and the real growth rate - 7.2 percent.

The amount of income on the ICT sector and postal services in non-oil sector GDP in the first six months amounted to 3.8 percent.

During the reported period, the amount of income on the ICT sector and postal services increased 15.8 percent as compared to the same period of 2010 and totaled 591.8 million manat.
