Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies is working to expand the activity of technology parks and create new industrial facilities in the sector of high technologies, Transport, Communications and High Technologies Minister Ramin Guluzade said Oct. 26 at the presentation of Azerbaijan’s innovative development project.
He said a business incubation center has been established under Azerbaijan’s High Tech Park LLC to stimulate innovation activity, and more than 30 start-ups currently operate in the center.
“In addition, the Research Center for High Technologies under the Ministry is currently working on priority areas in nanotechnology,” he noted. “To support innovative entrepreneurship, the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies of the Ministry acts as an investor of successful projects. In this direction, 117 projects were financed following six grant competitions held by the Fund.”
He added that many countries are preparing programs, strategies and road maps for the innovative development of the economy.
“For the preparation of these documents, it is important to attract international and local experts,” he said. “It is for this reason that we highly appreciate the work of UNDP, which provided support in the preparation of Azerbaijan’s innovation road map. UNDP plays a special role in global sustainable development.”
