Azerbaijan may use LIDAR technology in liberated lands - Innovation Agency

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 26

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The Innovation Agency of Azerbaijan provides support to many domestic projects and companies working in the field of high technologies and innovations, the agency told Trend.

One of such companies is Advanced Technologies Group LLC (ATG), which introduces existing innovations in the field of high technologies, develops software and works on ‘smart’ technologies.

According to Head of the scientific and technical department of ATG, Nijat Abdullah, one such project is LIDAR technology (Light Detection and Ranging), which is considered a remote sensing technology.

"It provides ample opportunities for rebuilding cities, building roads, and repairing and restoring monuments and buildings. The ATG is implementing the project together with two Azerbaijani partners - Project Terra and Olimp UAV," Abdullah emphasized.

The agency noted that this technology can be very useful when working in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from the Armenian occupation and can make it possible to perform a large amount of work in a shorter time.

LIDAR is a technology for obtaining and processing information about distant objects using active optical systems that use the phenomena of absorption and scattering of light in optically transparent media.

The main advantages of lidar technology are:

Obtaining a high-precision digital database;

Saving time;

Creation of a complete reflection of a real object in 3D format;

Instant measurement of distance, location, interval and other parameters of an object;

Ability to provide a visual report on the duration of the project;

Recommendations for materials to be used in the construction of roads, bridges and buildings, as well as in restoration work.
