BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. This week, the information security and cybersecurity strategy for 2023-2027 was approved in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
According to this strategy, Azerbaijan will establish minimum cybersecurity requirements for the national digital space, determine tax and other mandatory payment benefits in connection with the development of information security technologies, improve the protection of personal data, create consulting platforms on information security and cybersecurity, take measures to prepare national resources in the field of cryptographic protection, security requirements regarding the creation of, the use and disposal of unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition, a plan will be developed to create organizational foundations, risk assessment and management to ensure the security of critical information infrastructure and its management in emergency situations, in war conditions, a "cybercrime" electronic information system will be formed. Criteria and indicators of detection, measurement of incidents and critical cases will also be defined, a register of information security risks will be maintained.

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of cybersecurity. The memorandum is aimed to foster the development of mutual cooperation, efforts, and effective utilization of technical, financial, and human resources to prepare response measures in the event of significant incidents in the realm of cybersecurity.

A total of 224,000 cyberattacks have been made on mobile devices in Azerbaijan since early 2023.
In total, 32 percent of regular users in Azerbaijan have encountered local threats. As many as 24 percent of corporate users have faced local threats, 17 percent of corporate users have encountered web threats, and 17 percent have encountered email spam.
In Azerbaijan, 34 percent of devices in industrial enterprises (automated process control systems used in industrial enterprises, or ACS computers) have been attacked by malware since the beginning of 2023. The main sources of threats blocked on ACS computers in Azerbaijan since the beginning of 2023 are the Internet (17 percent), removable media (five percent), email clients (four percent), and network folders (0.1 percent).
In general, about 537,000 attempts to phishing pages, including 438,000 in the business-to-consumer (B2C) segment, were blocked in Azerbaijan, from January through August 2023.
