Number of cars operating on mixed fuel up by over 40% in Kazakhstan

The number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 4.1 million in 2018, which is 0.5 percent more than in 2017, Trend reports with reference to The national report on the state of the environment and the use of natural resources for 2018, prepared by Kazakh Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources.

Thus, for the most part Kazakhs preferred to use cars operating on petrol in 2018. Thus, some 3.6 million of the registered cars used petrol, which is however 0.4 percent less than in 2017. The largest number of petrol-using-cars accounted for Almaty region (491,021 cars).

In turn, the number of cars using diesel fuel amounted to 280,375 cars, which is 9.9 percent more compared to 2017. The largest number of cars operating on diesel fuel was registered in Almaty city (41,432 cars).

Furthermore, the number of autogas vehicles amounted to 11,317 cars in 2018, which is 5 percent less than in 2017. Thus, the leading region by autogas vehicles use was the North Kazakhstan region (1,760 cars).

In turn, the number of cars using mixed fuel amounted to 249,755 cars in the reporting year, whereas the number of electric cars was 6,337 cars, which is 42.2 percent more and 15.4 percent less than in 2017 respectively.

Leading regions by use of these types of fuel were Magystau region (69,784 cars) and Almaty city (2,831 cars) respectively.

According to the report, in order to decrease the transport emissions, the electric vehicle charging stations infrastructure in Nur-Sultan and Almaty cities, as well as on the Nur-Sultan- Shchuchinsk highway. Overall, some 110 stations are to be installed, including 101 in the cities and nine on the highway.

Furthermore, some 51 stations were installed in 2018: 48 in Nur-Sultan and 3 in Almaty.
