Number of containers transported along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway corridor from January through July 2021 considerably grew, the subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC - ADY Container LLC told Trend.
According to the LLC, this indicator made up 13,610 TEU containers, which is an increase of 63 percent compared to the first seven months of last year (8,348 containers).
"During the reporting period, cargoes have been mainly transported along the China – Turkey, Central Asia - Turkey routes and in the opposite direction,” the company said.
The growth of container traffic on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in July amounted to 109 percent compared to the same period of last year.
Some 46,877 containers have been transported via BTK since its commissioning, of which 92 percent of cargo accounted for transit cargo transportation.
