Kazakhstan sees increase in revenues from passenger railways transport

Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation via railways amounted to 6.8 billion tenge ($16.1 million) in August 2021, which is 95.8 percent more than in August 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue was 39.5 billion tenge ($93.1 million) over eight months of 2021, which is 24 percent more in comparison to last year.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 9.8 million people over eight months, which is a 33.4 percent more compared to the same period of last year (1.6 million passengers in August 2021, up by 98.7 percent).

The passenger turnover amounted to 8.05 billion passenger kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is an increase of 42 percent. August’s passenger turnover was 1.4 billion pkm (2.02 times increase year-on-year).

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 700.01 billion tenge ($1.6 billion) over eight months of 2021, which is 7.8 percent more than during the same period of 2020.

Revenues from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in August 2021 amounted to 90.6 billion tenge ($213.2 million), which is 6.3-percent increase in comparison to the same month of 2020.

The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 273.6 million tons, climbing by 2.4 percent compared to the same period of last year (34.8 million tons in August 2021, down by 1 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 195.6 billion ton-kilometers increasing by 0.8 percent comparison to last year (24.9 billion in August 2021, a decrease of 1.4 percent).
