BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. In total, about 94.8 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in the ports of Iran’s Hormozgan Province during the past 1 year (August 23, 2021 through August 22, 2022), Director General of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Department Hossein Abbasnejad said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
According to Abbasnejad, this is an increase of 14 percent compared to the previous period (August 22, 2020 through August 22, 2021).
The director general also added that 59.6 million tons of non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in the ports of the Hormozgan Province over the past 1 year, which is an increase of 18 percent compared to the previous year.
“At the same time, 35.2 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded in the ports of the province in 1 year, which is an increase of 8 percent compared to the previous year,” he said.
Abbasnejad noted that about 45 percent of the total cargo loaded and unloaded in the Iranian ports during the past 1 year accounted for the ports of Iran's Hormozgan Province.
Also, more than 2 million TEU containers were loaded and unloaded in the province’s ports within the mentioned period, which is 21 percent more than the previous year, the director general pointed out.
There are a total of 118 ports in Iran’s Hormozgan Province. Of these, 44 are multi-purpose ports, 31 are fish ports, 13 are commercial ports, 13 are entertainment and leisure ports, 11 are oil ports, 3 are passenger ports, and 3 are industrial ports.
