BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Azerbaijan imported 29,855 cars from January through April 2023, which is 27.82 percent, or 6,499 cars more than in the same period last year, the State Customs Committee (SCC) of the country told Trend.
According to the SCC, the bulk of imports fell on passenger cars - 27,589 units, which is 27.88 percent, or 6,015 units more year-on-year. Among them, 55 cars with a capacity of 10 people or more, as well as 568 electric cars and 4,474 hybrid cars were imported.
Moreover, imports of hybrid cars rose by 7.65 percent, or 318 units, compared to the reporting months of the previous year.
At the same time, the number of imported trucks grew by 42.8 percent over the year and reached 2,061 units.
Furthermore, the cost of imported cars increased by 32.15 percent, or $139.2 million, and amounted to about $433.1 million.
Azerbaijan imported 74,577 cars in 2022, which is 18.22 percent, or 16,617 less than in 2021. The value of imported cars grew by 13.1 percent last year and reached about $1 billion.
