BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. Sea freight in Azerbaijan exceeded seven million tons from January through September 2023, which is 22.8 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, passenger transportation by sea in the reporting period amounted to 17,900 people, which is 13.3 percent more compared to the same period in 2022.
Cargo transportation by seaports in Azerbaijan in the specified period amounted to over 10 million tons. In addition, 82.6 percent, or 8.3 million tons of them, accounted for transit cargo.
Moreover, Azerbaijan's sea export cargo transportation for oil amounted to 56.4 percent.
The volume of cargo in the ports of Azerbaijan amounted to 342,000 tons on the first of October.
In general, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 166.9 million tons from January through September 2023, which is 5.9 percent higher than in the same period of 2022. Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 1.4 billion people in the reporting period, which is 17.1 percent higher than in the same period in 2022.
