Kazakhstan talks number of new industrial projects to be launched in 2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Kazakhstan plans to launch 170 new investment projects in the industrial sector in 2023, Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan said at a meeting on the socio-economic development of the country chaired by the Head of State, Trend reports, citing Kazakh President's press service.

According to the PM, the total value of these projects is expected to amount to 1 trillion Kazakh tenge ($2.2 billion). As a result, about 15,000 new job places will be created.

"Kazakhstan also envisages to attract investments in fixed assets in the amount of 18.3 trillion Kazakh tenge ($40.5 billion) this year. A nationwide pool of 873 investment projects worth 28.1 trillion Kazakh tenge ($62.1 billion) is being worked out," Smailov said.

Meanwhile, according to the Government of Kazakhstan, the volume of foreign direct investments in the country's economy in 2022 reached $28 billion, which is an increase of 17.7 percent year-on-year ($23.8 billion in 2021).

The Netherlands was the top FDI donor with $8.33 billion. The US was a distant second with $5.1 billion, while Switzerland occupied the third position with $2.8 billion. Other countries in the top 10 included Belgium, Russia, South Korea, China, France, the UK, and Germany.
