BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asia Affairs Donald Lu, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 22, the parties discussed the current agenda of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and the US, as well as interaction on regional and international issues.

"The parties expressed their readiness to step up their mutual engagements on minimizing the negative effects of international sanctions on Kyrgyzstan's economy," the ministry said.

Kulubaev also emphasized the need to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the US.

As reported, the US will allocate $25 million for a new economic initiative that aims to boost the potential of the Central Asian countries.
