BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7. Turkmenistan Airlines has extended the contract with Saudi Ground Services on aircraft ground handling, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

The agreement assumes that the air carrier will fly to King Abdulaziz International Airport (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport (Medina, Saudi Arabia) until 2028.

Ground handling, which includes passenger service, cargo handling, as well as maintenance, of Turkmen Airlines aircraft at the airports of both cities will be carried out by the Saudi Ground Service company.

The opening of regular flights from Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) was scheduled for April 2020. Later, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company postponed the opening of regular flights indefinitely.

To date, Turkmenistan Airlines operates regular flights from Ashgabat to Istanbul (Türkiye), Moscow (Russia), Kazan (Tatarstan, Russia), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), and Dubai (UAE). Turkmenistan Airlines has been resuming regular flights from Ashgabat to Beijing (China) and London (UK) since the end of March this year.
