BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. Uzbekistan has installed additional solar panels with a total capacity of 28 kW on the roof of the administrative building of the Tashkent thermal power plant, Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, the newly installed panels will generate an additional 30,000 kWh of electricity per year. As a result, 9,100 cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.

On the rooftops of several facilities adjacent to the Tashkent thermal power plant Uzbekistan has already installed solar panels with a total capacity of 505.6 kW. By generating an additional 1 million kWh of electricity per year, the panels will save 100,000 cubic meters of natural gas.

The abovementioned measures are taken within the framework of the Uzbek President's "On measures to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy sources and energy-saving technologies in 2023" Resolution.

According to the Resolution, solar panels with a capacity of 220 MW will be installed at social facilities and government departments, at enterprises – 1300 MW, and at a newly built apartment building – 15 MW.

The number of solar panels will be increased not only in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent but also in the regions of the country - Andijan, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Fergana, Navoi, and Samarkand.
