Baku, Azerbaijan, July 14

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran will send an economic delegation to the US in autumn, head of Iran World Trade Center Mohammad Reza Sabzalipour told Trend July 14.

The delegation will be dispatched regardless of whether Iran and the P5+1 group reach an agreement to end Iran 's disputed nuclear program, Sabzalipour added.

Over the years, several economic delegations have been sent from Iran to the U.S., and vice versa, he said, adding that an announcement will be published in coming days related to terms and conditions for selecting eligible businessmen for the delegation.

" Iran has been sending economic delegations to all countries which have established political relations with the country, except for the US because of the imposed unilateral economic sanctions against Iran."

He also said that paving the way for economic ties with the US is not impossible.

"However, we should thaw the ice of relations between the two countries to give a boost to bilateral transactions," Sabzalipour said.

The important issue is that trade offices of the two countries will be reopened at last, he noted.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has frequently announced that doors of the Iranian economy are open to all economic enterprises in the world and Iran welcomes any kind of economic cooperation, Sabzalipour added.

On May 23, Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Gholamreza Shafei said the Iranian government has given the green light to private business owners to forge trade ties with their US counterparts.

He said the government had "advised" initial contact between the two countries' private sectors before formal trade links take shape.

"Unofficial connections could pave the way for establishment of joint chambers of commerce between Iran and the US," the official stated.
