The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran has banned the exports of any kind of wood and wood products in order to regulate and support the domestic market, IRNA reported.

Complaints were received by the ministry that some people, taking advantage of instability in the foreign exchange market, increase prices for furniture and bedding sets, as well as wood products used in offices.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, the country annually produces about 1.700 million square meters of medium density fiberboard (MDF) and the ministry aims to bring the production to 2.500 million square meters of MDF.

Besides, Iran’s wood products industry is partly ensured by imports.
