Iran discloses volume of tea bought from tea growers in Mazandaran and Gilan provinces

Some 24,000 tons of tea leaves were bought from tea growers in Iran’s northern Mazandaran and Gilan provinces at about 800 billion rials ($19 million according to the official exchange rate and $5.33 million according to the exchange rate in the black market), chairman of Iran's Tea Organization Habib Jahansaz said.

Up till now, tea growers obtained 107 billion rials ($2.54 million according to the official exchange rate and $713,000 according to the exchange rate in the black market), Jahansaz added, Trend reports referring to ISNA.

He said that 157 tea factories bought tea leaves in Mazandaran and Gilan provinces.

Jahansaz said that this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019) the price of 1 kilogram of 1st grade tea reached 32,750 rials ($0.77 according to the official exchange rate, $0.21 according to the exchange rate in the black market), 2nd grade tea – 18,492 rials ($0.44 according to the official exchange rate and $0.12 according to the exchange rate in the black market).
