Iran commissions 643 cooperative projects

Some 643 cooperative projects have been launched in Iran on the occasion of Iran Cooperative Day, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

Some 14.69 trillion (app. $349.9 million) has been invested in cooperative projects. The commissioning of the projects provided employment for 17,600 people.

About 366 projects (57 percent) are focused on production, 133 (21 percent) on services and 144 (22 percent) on housing.

The launch of the projects was attended by Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and the Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Mohammad Shariatmadari.

There are currently 93,943 cooperatives operating in Iran. Some 52,400 people have been provided with employment through 3,557 cooperative projects over the past year.

September 4 is celebrated as the Iran Cooperation Day, and a number of projects are commissioned during the week of celebrations.
