Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili has established an Integrated Public Communications Department in the office of government, the main purpose being to create a positive image of the administration.

The candidacy of 40 year old political scientist Valery Gorgiladze, who runs the Tera media analytical group, is being considered for the position as department head.

According to Valery Gorgiladze, the department is in the process of being formed and this is likely to be completed in 10 days. The aim of the department is to inform the public about the activities of the Prime Minister and the government. Some 30 employees will work in the department.

"We will try to create a different type of communication. Not promotion and PR, but direct, clear, intense and regular information to the public. It is planned to inform the international community. However, it will not be a priority at this stage," Gorgiladze said.
