Georgia’s road transport trade turnover doubles

The largest volume of Georgia’s trade turnover from January through November 2021 accounted for road transport, with $5.8 billion worth of transported goods, which is an increase of 100 percent, compared to $2.9 billion over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The second-largest means of transport by trade turnover in Georgia over the reporting period of 2021 is maritime transport, which amounted to $4.8 billion – an increase of 17 percent, compared to $4.1 billion over the first 11 months of 2020.

Air transport ranks third among leading means of transport by trade turnover in Georgia over the reporting period of 2021, with a total of $987.6 million worth of goods – an increase of 28.8 percent, compared to $766.2 million over the same period of 2020.

The remaining share of Georgia’s trade turnover in the reporting period of 2021 fell on rail transport ($830.8 million) and other means of transport ($320.5 million).

Meanwhile, Georgian foreign trade turnover (excluding undeclared trade) from January through November 2021 amounted to $12.8 billion, which is 25.1 percent more than over the same period of 2020 – $10.2 billion.
