Georgia sees increase in cards transactions

The number of payment cards transactions in Georgia from January through November 2021 amounted to 465.2 million, which is an increase of 21.7 percent, compared to 382 million transactions over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

The number of transactions only in November 2021 totaled 45.7 million, which is 21.2 percent more than 37.7 million over the same period of 2020, and 0.4 percent more than 45.5 million in October 2021.

Meanwhile, the value of total transactions from January through November 2021 amounted to 40.6 million Georgian lari ($13.1 million), which is an increase of 32.2 percent, compared to 30.7 million Georgian lari ($9.9 million) over the reporting period of 2020.

According to the NBG, the transactions only in November 2021 increased by 35.1 percent, compared to 3.1 million Georgian lari ($1 million) over the same period of 2020, and amounted to 4.19 million Georgian lari ($1.36 million).

The same figure also slightly increased by 0.4 percent, compared to 4.17 million Georgian lari ($1.35 million) in October 2021, the report said.
