The number of visitors from Azerbaijan traveling to Georgia only in December 2021 increased by 122.2 percent, compared to 3,955 visitors over the same month of 2020, and totaled 8,787 people, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.
However, the same figure decreased by 92.8 percent, compared to 122,591 visitors in December 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).
The number of visitors from Azerbaijan traveling to Georgia in 2021 decreased by 72 percent to 82,718 people, compared to 295,132 people over the same period of 2020
Meanwhile, the same figure decreased by 94.6 percent, compared to 2019, when 1.5 million people visited Georgia from Azerbaijan.
Thus, Azerbaijan ranks seventh among TOP-10 main countries of origin for tourists arriving in Georgia in 2021, the report said.
The total number of international visitors to Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to 1.8 million visitors, which is an increase of 7.7 percent, compared to 1.7 million over the same period of 2020.
