Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath arrived in Gaza on Sunday evening, in a visit to support the reconciliation deal between his party and Gaza rulers Hamas Maan reported
Shaath had been due to visit the coastal strip last week, but the trip was postponed for unstated reasons.
The Fatah leader, who is also commissioner for the party's international relations, will meet with all political factions in Gaza, officials said.
He last visited the Hamas-ruled territory shortly after leaders of the parties signed a reconciliation deal in May 2011, to push forward implementation of the agreement.
In the months since, the party rivals have sparred over the terms of the deal, but launched a new effort to see accord through in November 2011, when party chiefs President Mahmoud Abbas and Khalid Mashaal met in Cairo.
The agreement sought to end four years of division that split Gaza and the West Bank into separate administrations, and hold fresh elections within a year.
