United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday condemned the death of Syrian Arab Red Crescent head Abd-al-Razzaq Jbeiro, who was shot dead while driving from Damascus to the restive town of Idlib in northern Syria, dpa reported.
UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said Ban extended his condolences to Jbeiro's family and called for an investigation into Wednesday's incident.
"The secretary general reminded all sides of their obligations to respect and protect humanitarian workers as they perform their duties and impartially serve all those who are in need," Nesirky said.
