Ministry discloses volume of cargo from Libya transported through Turkish ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23

Some 1.8 million tons of cargo from Libya were transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

“The ships flying the Turkish flag transported 192,618 tons of cargo from Libya while ships flying the flags of other countries – 1.6 million tons,” the ministry said.

The ships flying the flag of Libya did not transport cargo to the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

"Some 43,164 tons of cargoes from Libya were transited through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021," the ministry said.

Thus, 662,518 tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Some 9.8 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag through the local ports.

About 115.1 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Moreover, 24.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

Some 33.8 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in April 2021.

In general, 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported by the ships flying the Turkish flag in April 2021.

At the same time, 31.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports by the ships flying the flags of other countries.

Some 6.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April 2021.
