( Cihan ) - A group of Turkish women have submitted files to be drafted into the Turkish army in their desire to react to recent terrorists attacks against Turkish soldiers.
Six women, whose ages range from 19 to 50, arrived on Thursday at the military recruitment office in northwestern Turkish province of Balikesir.
"We wanted to display our reaction to terrorism," said one of the women, who volunteer to become a member of the Turkish army. "We believe that the current situation in Turkey is serious."
"It is high time to stop these (recent killings of soldiers)," said Ulker Oncu, mother of one. "We, all Turkish people, should support our soldiers. They should feel that we stand firmly behind them just like Turkish women who participated in wars in the past," she added.
The women have submitted their petitions to the recruitment office. After submitting their petitions, one of them said a military officer told her to expect a response as soon as possible, and she added: "I hope they draft girls soon."
