Employees of the Azerbaijani Ecology Natural Resources Ministry together with employees from the Bilasuvar Region Police Department prevented illegal trade of wild birds, the Ecology Ministry said.
During a raid in the Sabirabad region, Gasimbeyli village residents Rovshan Novruzov and Mirjavad Hashimov, who were illegally transporting ducks and 690 coots, were arrested.
Hunting of birds has been banned in order to prevent the spread of bird flu in the country since 2005.
Currently, over 60 violators of the Law on Hunting have been detained.
