MP: Iran-Germany historical ties should not be affected by pressures

Head of Majlis (parliament) national security and foreign policy commission said it should not be allowed that good historical ties of Iran and Germany be affected by pressures and policies of certain countries, IRNA reported.

According to the report of Majlis News and Mass Media Bureau on Saturday, Allaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting with visiting German parliamentary delegation here praised Germany parliament decision to dispatch parliamentary friendship group to Tehran.

He said that the decision to send a parliamentary delegation to Tehran contrary to European Parliament decision which cancelled its visit to Iran under pressure of the "Zionists", indicated independence of their decision making and we hope they keep this independence forever.

He underlined existing capacities and many opportunities between the two countries for cooperation and added that strengthening parliamentary cooperation can create a new atmosphere for expansion of mutual relations upon national interests.

The Iranian MP evaluated responsibilities of both parliaments and deputies in this direction very important.

Referring to Afghanistan crisis and the outlook of development in that country, Boroujerdi said that in spite of long presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan, nowadays, we witness strengthening of terrorism and expansion of drug smuggling which endanger security and tranquility in the region and the world, while mutual cooperation of Iran and Germany can help strengthening peace and tranquility in the world.

He continued that fight against terrorism has been among one of principled policies of Iran in the last three decades and expansion of ominous phenomenon of terrorism in the region is a joint concern of all countries and confronting with this phenomenon necessitates regional and international collective cooperation.

Head of Germany parliamentary friendship group Bijan Jirsaraei, for his part, expressed pleasure with paying a visit to Tehran and said that in spite of pressures, the parliament decided to dispatch its delegation to Iran and now we are pleased with this decision, because it has caused acquaintance with Iran's realities.

He added that the realities of Iranian society are very different from negative propaganda of western media and continued that the German delegation emphasizes necessity of continuation of dialogue and friendly relations.
