The situation in Iraq is extremely dangerous, as Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is leading the country to a dictatorship, Al Arabiya TV channel quotes head of the Kurdish autonomy in Northern Iraq Massoud Barzani as saying.

According to Barzani, he shared his concerns on this matter with U.S. President Barack Obama. He also said that he intends to hold an emergency meeting with the Iraqi authorities where he will discuss all the problems between Baghdad and the Kurdish administration.

If the parties fail to agree on specific changes, then the Kurdish autonomy will no longer regard al-Maliki as Iraqi prime minister, Barzani said.

Relations between the Kurdish administration in northern Iraq and Baghdad deteriorated in October 2011 after the U.S Exxon Mobil Company received permission from the authorities of the Kurdish administration to conduct oil exploration and production in the Iraqi region. Baghdad considered the deal as illegal and warned the company that if it does not abandon the agreement with the Kurds, its deals with the central Iraqi government may be revised.

Against this background, the Kurdish administration announced it is stopping all oil supplies through the central Iraqi government.
