The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry started preparing the conditions to launch the second satellite, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry administration head Vidadi Zeynalov told Trend on Saturday.
Zeynalov said that the second satellite is planned to be launched in 2015.
Azerbaijan has already begun to examine the strategic and commercial issues in this project.
A decision on the future strategy of the Azerbaijani second satellite program will be made.
Azerbaijan's plans include holding an open tender. Potential manufacturers of spacecrafts may attend the tender.
The second satellite will be low-orbit. It will be used for remote sensing, mapping and geological studies, etc.
The second satellite program is expected to be realized at the expense of the country's own funds.
