NATO experts will visit Azerbaijan from April 9 to 14 for consultations on the preparation of assessment instruments under the Individual Partnership Action Plan, the Azerbaijan's mission to the alliance said.

NATO experts will visit Azerbaijan from April 9 to 14 for consultations on the preparation of assessment instruments under the Individual Partnership Action Plan, the Azerbaijan's mission to the alliance said.

Consultations will be held with the participation of relevant institutions involved in the partnership with NATO. The cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO was laid in 1994, after the signing the framework document, Partnership for Peace.

In April 1996, an official document was signed within the Partnership for Peace Programme, identifying specific areas of cooperation between countries of the alliance. Currently, in accordance with this programme, Azerbaijan implements about 50 partner tasks.

On Aug. 3, 2005, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the approval of the Individual Partnership Action Plan between Azerbaijan and NATO.

Now the cooperation is extended to the second phase of the plan.
