Azerbaijan boosts electricity production volume for 8M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Azerbaijani solar power plants produced 43.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through August 2022, up by 16 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, 17.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in Azerbaijan over the reporting period of 2022, which is 2.9 percent more than over the same period of 2021. Of these, 17.3 billion kilowatt-hours fell on commercial electricity (an increase of 2.7 percent year on year).

Of the total electricity production in Azerbaijan over the first eight months of this year, 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours came from hydroelectric power plants, which is a growth of 36.9 percent on annual basis, and 16 billion kilowatt-hours - from thermal power plants (up by 0.8 percent).

Meanwhile, wind power generation in the country amounted to 25 million kilowatt-hours, thus having increased by 56.3 percent year on year.
