Azerbaijan shares data on electricity trade since year-start

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Azerbaijan's electricity exports from January through February 2023 amounted to 840.1 million kWh, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.

At the same time, the country's electricity imports in the reporting period totaled 21 million kWh, the ministry said.

Only in February 2023, exports of electricity from Azerbaijan amounted to 10.13 million kWh, while imports totaled 335.8 million kWh.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's total electricity production over the first two months of 2023 amounted to 5.176 billion kW/h.

The ministry noted that, in February 2023, the production of electricity jumped by 82.5 million kW/h, or 3.5 percent, year-on-year, amounting to 2.417 billion kW/h.

Moreover, in the reporting period, the electricity production from the Azerenergy OJSC made up 4.712 billion kWh, from State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan - 55.21 million kWh, from Azerishig OJSC - 6.7 million kWh, and from Independent PPs - 402.3 mln kWh.

In total, over 28.988 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the country in 2022 (an increase of 4 percent). Exports accounted for more than 3 billion kWh of electricity, while imports - 137.1 million kWh of electricity.
