BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan amounted to $1.2 million (0.05 percent) of the total Azerbaijani foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries from January through April 2023, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee told Trend.
According to the committee, this figure decreased by 41.51 percent compared to the first four months of 2022 ($2.1 million).
Tajik imports from Azerbaijan amounted to $1.2 million from January through April 2023, which is 40.98 percent less than in the same period of last year ($542,000).
During the reporting period of 2023, Tajik exports to Azerbaijan equaled $5,490, which is 80.58 percent less in comparison with the same period of 2022 ($28,270).
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with the CIS countries exceeded $2.13 billion from January through April 2023, while its share in the overall Azerbaijani foreign trade turnover reached 11.95 percent.
Overall, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover increased by 12.73 percent ($2 billion) in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2022 - from $15.8 billion to $17.8 billion.
According to the committee, in the structure of foreign trade turnover, the country's exports accounted for $12.5 billion, which is $761.5 million (or 6.44 percent) more than in the same period last year. The share of exports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 70.37 percent against 74.53 percent a year before.
Azerbaijan's imports increased by $1.2 billion (or 31.12 percent) from $4 billion to about $5.2 billion during the reporting period. Import share in foreign trade turnover was 29.62 percent compared to 25.47 percent a year before.
During the reporting period, the balance of foreign trade turnover, while remaining positive, decreased year-on-year by more than $495.8 million (or 6.37 percent) to $7.2 billion against $7.7 billion from January through April 2022.
